RUSSO, KELLY  e  PALADINO, MARIANA. THE LAW N. 11.645 AND THE TEACHER'S VISION OF RIO DE JANEIRO ON INDIGENOUS SUBJECT AT SCHOOL. Rev. Bras. Educ. [online]. 2016, vol.21, n.67, pp.897-921. ISSN 1809-449X.  https://doi.org/10.1590/S1413-24782016216746.

From the law n. 11.645/2008, which establishes the obligation of teaching the history and culture of indigenous peoples in schools at primary and secondary level education in Brazil, Scholarly education faced a difficult challenge: change its monocultural array and instead consider the richness and diversity of the indigenous contribution to the understanding of culture and national history. This article explores the implementation of law n. 11.645 in the state of Rio de Janeiro. It's focus are representations and practices of teachers in schools in the region called the Grande Rio, about the law and teaching about the reality of indigenous peoples. For this analysis, the methodology focused on interviews, observation in schools and questionnaires sent to teachers. The relevance of this work may be justified by the lack of studies that address the application of law in terms of the inclusion of indigenous issues in school education.

Palavras-chave : law n. 11.645/2008; history and indigenous cultures; schooling; cultural diversity.
