REYES, GERMÁN MORONG; PANTOJA, EDGARDO MERINO  and  ARAYA, ANA OLGA ARELLANO. CHARACTERISTICS, PERCEPTIONS AND MOTIVATIONS OF STUDENTS ENTERING THE COURSE OF PEDAGOGY IN CHILE: THE CASE OF BERNARDO O’HIGGINS UNIVERSITY. Rev. Bras. Educ. This study seeks to collect data on the background of future Chilean teachers, their motivations and perceptions on the national educational process. Through the application of an instrument of research (survey) to first year student teachers from four teaching programs offered by the faculty of education of Universidad Bernardo O’Higgins, we intend to develop a grid of analysis composed of two fundamental dimensions: the motivations that led them to study pedagogy and their impressions on the national educational system. From this point of view, we will present a primary-source perspective of the critical aspects of this system, since they, as high school graduates, can provide insights that could help improve the teacher training process.

Keywords : students; pedagogy; motivations; educational process.
