Abstract

HERMANN, NADJA. THE BOND BETWEEN BODY, ETHIC AND AESTHETICS. Rev. Bras. Educ. [online]. 2018, vol.23, e230051.  Epub Aug 28, 2018. ISSN 1809-449X.  https://doi.org/10.1590/s1413-24782018230051.

The essay investigates the relationship between the corporeal and the affections in the ethics, situating, at first, the abandonment of the body and the disregard of the emotions and feelings resulting from the substantial dualism (body-soul) present in the Platonic and Cartesian tradition. In a second moment, it presents the position of Spinoza who turns a twist in interpreting body and soul (or mind) as a unit, projecting an ethic of affectivity, which takes into account the affections of the body. Finally, aesthetics is introduced in a relationship of complementarity to ethic, as a dimension able to serve the demands generated by the appreciation of the corporeal and affections in the formative process. The aesthetic is able to activate the senses and the imagination, in order to promote a self-knowledge, capable of sensitizing to new ethical principles.

Keywords : body; affections; ethic; aesthetics.
