Abstract

DEVECHI, Catia Piccolo Viero; TAUCHEN, Gionara  and  TREVISAN, Amarildo Luiz. THE OTHER IN COMPARATIVE EDUCATION: A COMMUNICATIVE EDUCATION PERSPECTIVE. Rev. Bras. Educ. [online]. 2018, vol.23, e230055.  Epub Sep 11, 2018. ISSN 1809-449X.  https://doi.org/10.1590/s1413-24782018230055.

The comparative studies in education sought, historically, to meet different concerns and theoretical approaches through the comparison of similarities and dissimilarities among the national education systems as a strategy to guide educational reforms, and even the studies for the production of meanings and symbolic solidarity. Therefore, the article aimed to bring out the historical traces of the comparative studies to contextualize the progress of its discussions to date. The study, theoretical by nature, is referenced in the hermeneutic-reconstructive approach of Habermas. The actuality of comparative education reveals that scientific understanding has demanded the investigation of diversified contexts, so as to clarify common problems. Thus, we understand that, as we examine educational problems, education can, by means of a discourse with otherness, find even more adequate paths for our experiences with the world.

Keywords : comparative education; communicative learning; speech; hermeneutics.
