This article discusses linguistic diversity in teaching practice in Pomeranian communities where bilingual teachers and children feature in the Programa de Educação Escolar Pomerana, created in 2005 in some municipalities in the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil. Studies on how schools in this context promote linguistic rights were reviewed. Besides from interviews and dialogued readings of the political project with Pomeranian teachers and management teams of rural schools in Santa Maria de Jetibá, Espírito Santo, that take bilingual children. Observations of their school context were carried out, with entries in a field journal. It was observed that the teachers’ practice value cultures and knowledge, raising their own self-esteem, the children’s and other Pomeranian descendants’.
