Abstract

PEREIRA, Maria de Fátima Rodrigues  and  MARCOCCIA, Patrícia Correia de Paula. Subalternization in the work and education of young people of family farms in the First and Second Planalto of the municipality of Lapa/Paraná: possibilities of overcoming. Rev. Bras. Educ. [online]. 2019, vol.24, e240022.  Epub June 03, 2019. ISSN 1809-449X.  https://doi.org/10.1590/s1413-24782019240022.

This article presents results of a research on young people from the family farm of the Municipality of Lapa/Paraná, and its subalternity. The method adopted is dialectical historical materialism guided by Marx’s social theory, which considers material production socially determined, making it possible to capture the subalternity of the young in their phenomenal manifestations, their course and development. Documents such as the Agricultural Census of 2006 and the Demographic Census of 2010 were also analyzed, as well as reports of a semi-structured interview with an employee of the Empresa de Assistência Técnica e Extensão Rural (Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Company) and three young people from the family agriculture residing in the aforementioned municipality. The study shows that work in family agriculture in Lapa maintains relationships of double subordination regarding the production of life and access to school education, the presence of patriarchal relations and the exploitation and expropriation of monopoly capital.

Keywords : youth work; family farming; education; subalternity.
