Abstract

ZELAYA, Iving  and  MONTANES, Manuel. FACTORS THAT FAVOR OR HINDER THE INTERNATIONALIZATION OF THE RESEARCH ACTIVITY OF HONDURAN UNIVERSITY PROFESSORS. Rev. Bras. Educ. [online]. 2022, vol.27, e270050.  Epub June 18, 2022. ISSN 1809-449X.  https://doi.org/10.1590/s1413-24782022270050.

The factors that, according to the narratives of Honduran university professors, affect the internationalization of research activities, facilitating or hindering their development, are presented. A qualitative/structural methodology has been used to analyze the discursive material produced in group meetings convened according to a structural sample designed ad hoc, as well as a SWOT Matrix in which the factors have been distributed in the different quadrants according to whether they are positive or negative and whether they are present or foreseeable. The identified factors have been grouped into three clusters: biographical (individual skills and attitudes of teachers); institutional, and contextual factors characteristics. Knowledge of these factors could be useful for the design and management of institutional strategies related to the internationalization of research activity.

Keywords : intervening factors; Honduras; internationalization; research; faculty; university.
