This paper addresses indigenous higher education in the Law Program at the Federal University of Roraima (UFRR). It aims to understand the challenges faced by indigenous people when they enter this new academic environment integrated by a majority of non-indigenous people. To this end, this text outlines the quantitative and qualitative methodology carried out through documentary and content analysis, as well as conversations with indigenous students taking the program. As a result, a survey was obtained with data on the entrance of indigenous students, in the period from 2011 to 2019, as well as all the aid offered by the institution. The institution has been promoting the entry of indigenous people in an effective manner and also provides for their permanence through various forms of financial assistance. As for the difficulties revealed in the study, financial, language, and information technology difficulties as well as prejudice were identified as the most recurrent, leading to drop out.
