Abstract

LANDIM, Fernanda Cássia; SARAIVA, Eduardo Steindorf  and  MALLMANN, Tatiana Weber. Racial maternity at school: for an anti-racist education. Rev. Bras. Educ. [online]. 2024, vol.29, e290072.  Epub Aug 05, 2024. ISSN 1809-449X.  https://doi.org/10.1590/s1413-24782024290072.

The paper presents a clinical-political dispositif of anti-racist care at school, arising from the racial relations that take place in this space and from racial maternity, which shows us the challenge faced by mothers of black children that have gone through any racist situation at school. The intervention research has cartography as its method, using semi- structured individual interviews and focal groups. The results show the striking narratives of white and black mothers about the racism experienced by their sons, by their daughters; the types of racism involved in these situations at school; the attitudes of mothers at school with regard to the racism situation; and possible strategies for building effective anti-racist educational practices in the school context. As an additional reflexive tool, a documentary was produced based on the testimonies of some of the mothers taking part in the intervention research about their suffering.
