This article aims to discuss the literate experiences promoted at the Clube Curitibano between the years 1881 and 1890. The time frame refers to the institution's founding moment and the course in which literate dynamics were radiated in the association. Newspapers and magazines published in the capital of Paraná during the period in question were used as sources. It was possible to verify that the Clube Curitibano was born from erudite aspirations. Around literate actions, an attempt was made to formulate a cultural enclosure. For this, spaces and moments were created: the institution had a library, acquired books, promoted literary conferences, offered classes and founded its own periodical. It is concluded that, through these mechanisms linked to the world of letters, the institution disseminated content and conduct that provided instructive possibilities for its members - characteristics that indicate that clubs, based on their occupations, can be educational environments.
