MURARO, Darcísio Natal. Philosophy and the democratic and educational experience in the perspective of Freire and Dewey. Rev. Bras. Educ. [online]. 2025, vol.30, e300010. Epub 07-Mar-2025. ISSN 1809-449X. https://doi.org/10.1590/s1413-24782025300010.
The article has the following problem to be addressed: What is an educational and democratic experience for Dewey and Freire? The aim is to analyze the concepts of experience in their relationship with democracy and education in the context of crisis we are going through. The methodology is qualitative and based on bibliographic discourse analysis. As a result, the study discusses the role of philosophy in thinking about the problems that impede human experience such as dualisms and the unjust and oppressive social structure. For Freire, the experience is impacted by the colonial heritage and the oppression of the dehumanizing neoliberal system. Liberating education is dialogic and democratic practice. For Dewey, experience is an experiment in which we are all involved, with the need to socialize goods to develop human capabilities that are converted into social benefits. Experience as a dialogical and reflective process is an ethical, political and educational practice of humanization and transformation of the world.
