The aim of the article is to present and analyse the contribution of Marxist philosopher Lucien Sève to the construction of the human individuality. The author's first work precedes the development of the field of biographical studies and research in the 1980s, leaving an important theoretical contribution, albeit little known in Brazil. The article is organized into three sections. The first section brings biographical and contextual elements of the author and his writings. The second especially highlights a remarkable publication in the intellectual and political path of Lucien Sève, the book Marxisme et théorie de la personnalité. The third section emphasizes the author's most important work, the tetralogy Penser avec Marx aujourd'hui, and examines what Lucien Sève called the fundamental concepts of anthropology in Marx. In the end, the article reflects on what was presented and brings indications for the unfolding of the issues dealt with in the text.
