The papers studies the sexuality of mentally retarded persons starting from the erroneous principIe that their sexuality is intrinsically problematic ar pathological. The author sumarizes her recent researches wich showed the urgent need to develop sexual education and orientation programs since atitudes and behavior of these individuaIs are completely normally and healthy. The researcher condudes that a well-guided sexual education can drastically reduce the risks of sexual exploitation and social unacceptable behaviour, and also prevent undesired pregnancy and the appearance of venereal diseases and Aids.
