Abstract

OMOTE, Sadao. Special classes: a comment on Torezan & Caiado. Rev. bras. educ. espec. [online]. 2000, vol.06, n.01, pp.43-64. ISSN 1413-6538.

ln a recenlt paper, Torezan & Caiado (1995) presented some arguments to discuss issues related to the maintenance, expansion or extinction of special classes. The aim of this paper is to argue that special education resources have been misused, which has the undesired segregation of the disabled students. Reasons of such misuse are discussed. The extinction of special classes will not put of end to the segregation of the disabled. Instead of its extinction, it is argued for its expansion in order to allow growing number of disabled children attends the public school.
