The combination of the issues, Public Politics, Scientific Production and Special Education, is analysed under two ways: (a) the research perspective about the public politcs and, (b) the scientific production under the point of view of the Special Education politics. By analyzing a history of the relationship between service delivery, public politics and knowledge production lin Special Education some points of view were identified for debate, such as: (a) the perspectives for a scientific production in the area; (h) some implications of the indissociability between politcs and all the scientific investigations and (c) the necessity to clearly define Special Education as one area of knowledge and as a field of professional practice in Brazil.
