Abstract

CANOTILHO, Marta Martins. The integration of physical deficiency children in the regular school according to the parents’ perspective. Rev. bras. educ. espec. [online]. 2002, vol.08, n.01, pp.15-26. ISSN 1413-6538.

This paper investigates the integration process of physical deficiency children in the regular school according to the perspective of their parents. By the reports of six physical deficiency children’s mothers, we analysed four aspects of school integration process (school access, physical ambient, social and functional adaptations). The mothers related that the teacher’s attitude aided the social adaptation of their children. However, we found difficulties to school access, functional adaptations and physical ambient (architectonic barriers) that contributed to physical deficiency children segregation at school ambient.
