Abstract

The aim of of this paper is to analyse whether the articles published in the Revista Brasileira de Educação Especial have the same current trends met in the studies of Special Education. Three aspects that appear to be important to understand the current trends of the research in Special Education were analysed. They refer to focus of attention centered either on the deficiency or on the environment, the characterization of the deficiency category studied based on specific disability and the prevailing of research about the mental deficiency. It may be concluded that the research reports published in such journal follow the tendencies verified in the previous study analysing the research communications presented in two great scientific meetings during several years.
