Abstract

Aiming to comprehend the inclusion of the physically handicapped student, especially those who present cerebral palsy sequel, in the regular education, the present study has as its objective to identify the thoughts of two small communities in Natal - RN regarding the presence of this student in their educational context. From the statements heard through a semi-structured interview, it can be verified that the subjects notice the student with cerebral palsy based on: visual aspects, deficiency rooted conceptions, inadequate understanding, their potencialities, a view that they are people who need help and are important to the formation of values. The study points to the importance of the orientation program development, aiming clarifying wrong information about the deficiency in general, and specially about cerebral palsy, which can serve as promoters for school inclusion of these students and the performance of all those working with this clientele.
