Abstract

MANZINI, Eduardo José. Evaluation of articles of Special Education Brazilian Journal. Rev. bras. educ. espec. [online]. 2004, vol.10, n.03, pp.273-286. ISSN 1413-6538.

The objective of this article is to show in details the process of evaluation of the texts sent to the Special Education Brazilian Journal, as well as to carry out an analysis of assessments and identify the criteria that guides the evaluation, rewriting and consequently the approval or not of the scientific texts submitted to evaluation in 2003 and 2004. To do so, we analysed 60 assessments made by the editorial council and assessors "ad hoc" of Special Education Brazilian Journal, 12 were not approving the article. It was possible to identify four analysis category. 1. Relevance, merit, originality; 2. Composition of the articles (division in sections; presence of summary, key words and abstract; 3. Patterning (references, foot-note, picture insertion, charts and tables); and 4. Content (objectives, treatment procedure and analysis, result presentation, and so on). These categories indicate the more common necessities related to revision, reformulation and reasons to refusing the articles. It is possible to conclude that the assessments made by the editorial council and by assessors "ad hoc" of Special Education Brazilian journal have a pedagogical character and indicate to the authors the necessities of rewriting the texts.
