Abstract

SOUZA, Vânia Regina Alves de. Writing an abstract: orientation to authors. Rev. bras. educ. espec. [online]. 2005, vol.11, n.01, pp.17-32. ISSN 1413-6538.

Since the abstract is very important and its writing is in a foreign language, we have to eliminate obstacles to make this task. It works as the visiting card of the research, as the information disseminator and reaches a bigger number of readers because of the universal language. The authors should be aware of this importance, get to know their structure, as well as getting instruction to improve their writing. We mention the parts that should appear in the abstract and some methodologies to do so. Some mistakes are common because they are written by non-natives. We recommend instructions to improve their writing based on apparent problems.

Keywords : Abstracts; Documentation; Information Processing; Journal Articles; Technical Writing.
