Abstract

BARBOSA, Maria Claudia Dutra Lopes; SIMONETTI, Luci Gelabert  and  RANGEL, Mary. Relato da vida escolar de pessoas com o transtorno obsessivo-compulsivo e altas habilidades: a necessidade de programas de enriquecimento. Rev. bras. educ. espec. [online]. 2005, vol.11, n.02, pp.201-222. ISSN 1413-6538.

This article intends to discuss supporting school activities to students who present obsessive-compulsive disorder or its symptoms, and also High Abilities/Giftedness/Talents, by introducing psycho educational activities nominated enrichment programs. In order to identify the High Abilities behavior in subjects, it was performed psychological tests such as Raven Progressive Matrix-General Scale, My Hands (MM), their school ratings, and also their speeches selected from a questionnaire based on Renzulli & Mönks Triadic Model. Concerning to the subjects' behavior related to the obsessive compulsive disorder diagnosed by a Psychiatrist, it was performed the Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale (YBOCS), and a questionnaire based on Cordioli obsessive compulsive disorder studies, related to the subjects' symptoms of obsessive compulsive disorder. The research results, not only reinforce the relevance of the proposal to perform enrichment programs to High Abilities students, but also make evident the lack of information of some Educators about the students' symptoms and manifestation of the obsessive-compulsive disorder, and indicate that High Abilities are not observed as a special need that must be recognized and nurtured. The case study research method was employed to 9 subjects who present High Abilities/Giftedness/Talents and also obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Keywords : Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder; Symptoms; High Abilities; Enrichment Programs.
