GEBRAEL, Tatiana Luísa Reis  and  MARTINEZ, Cláudia Maria Simões. Consultoria colaborativa em terapia ocupacional para professores de crianças pré-escolares com baixa visão. Rev. bras. educ. espec. [online]. 2011, vol.17, n.01, pp.101-120. ISSN 1413-6538.

The purpose of this study was to develop, implement and evaluate an individualized program called PRO-DLA of collaborative consulting in Occupational Therapy for teacher training, to increase theachers repertoire of strategies and resources to promote the independence of preschool children with low vision in activities of daily hygiene and nutrition. Study participants were 10 teachers and 10 students with low vision aged between 4 and 6 years that were in a regular school. The study design was experimental and there was a control group. The elaboration of the training program involved studying the children's abilities in the tasks of self-help, and their visual capacity, the teacher's original repertoire, and the dynamics of the Teacher - Student dyad in carrying out Daily Living Activities (DLA). From this data we proceeded to develop individualized PRO-DLA programs. The implementation of the program was achieved through collaborative consultation, at 6 weekly meetings. Pre-test and post-test notes were taken and a field diary was kept; analysis of film and questionnaires were used to assess qualitatively and quantitatively the effect of the intervention program. The results were increased preparation and teacher repertoire to work with hygiene and feeding activities with the students with low vision. The strategies developed and put into motion in PRO-DLA, such as practical activities, feedback and interaction between the researcher and teachers, were essential for the participants' adherence to the program and for positive results in the collaborative consulting.
