DIALOGUE BETWEEN DANCE AND DISABILITY: AN INTEGRATIVE REVIEW. Rev. bras. educ. espec. [online]. 2024, vol.30, e0073. Epub 27-Jun-2024. ISSN 1980-5470. https://doi.org/10.1590/1980-54702024v30e0073.
Dance has been conquering new spaces, bringing the human body and movement to the fore. In the 1980s, the “dance and disability” interface began to compose national research, reaching an educational perspective. Given the vast possibility of research mediated by this theme, this study aimed to reflect on the articles that answered the following guiding question: How has literature approached the theme “dance” in the context of disability? An integrative review was carried out on the following databases: Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE) and Journal database of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Periódicos CAPES), without delimiting the year of publication. The 20 studies selected for the final sample had a greater number of publications in the field of Physical Education, Education and Arts. The most mentioned modalities were: educational dance, sports dance in a wheelchair and contemporary dance. Thus, it was sought to know the paths that have been taken through this interface, which, although still little explored, demonstrates great transforming potential, emphasizing dance as an element capable of encompassing all bodies, in their most diverse nuances.
