This article deals with the ma in aspects that follow the process of "restricted" privatization of the university system in Argentina. First of all, the centrality that the company acquired related to all rationality. In adition, are analized the creation of private institutions and the most important aspects of that process. It deals also with the role that institutional evaluation can play in the configuration of a system oriented by the market. Finally, it deals with the implementation of graduate programs. Those axes make possible to understand the behavior of the university system in Argentina. This understanding has to consider the political-managerial tendencies that impel the public sectors to adopt patterns that are typical practices of the private sectors and the growing relative weight of the private sectors inside the system.
