The article discusses some of the privatization iniciatives in American Education, showing that, contrary to what has hapenned in Brazil, schools rather than universities have been targeted by privatization has failed to meet its costs. The evaluation of these experiments has led city officials to cancel their contracts with Education Alternatives Inc (EAI) and to once again control of their schools. The article concludes with the suggestion that Brazil rethink its privatization process.
