Abstract

DIAS SOBRINHO, José. Universidade pública e processos de privatização da educação superior: papéis da avaliação institucional. Avaliação (Campinas) [online]. 1997, vol.02, n.04, pp.57-64. ISSN 1414-4077.

My main intention, in the limits of this text, is to bring for the debate the contradictions between the public and the private related to higher Education the agenda of the institutional evaluation as an intervention mechanism and of consolidation of politics. In other words, I would like to propose an invitation that permit to think the evaluation as part of an international agenda, with dear political purposes, that exceed the limits of the academical. When the evaluative experience is a homogeneous and general action, it is not particularly limited by a country, an institution or some subsistem of higher education. The high interest that the institutional evaluation provokes is nor only related with the legitimate purposes of academic-scientific improvement and with the administrative eficicacy of the institutions. This is also generated by the necessity of control that governments and international organizations, that follows the neoliberal doctrine, have. The institutional evaluation is, therefore, an important mechanism that reinforces and helps to make possible one or ocher political tendency, that intervene in the university, with strong impact not only about the conception, but also on the proper nature of the universities.

Keywords : Institutional Evaluation; Public University; Privatization on Higher Education.
