Abstract

ITO, Ana Misako Yendo  and  IVAMA, Adriana Mitsue. Global performance indicators from the Health Sciences Centre Degree Courses at the State University of Londrina, a comparative study of the credit and annual systems. Avaliação (Campinas) [online]. 1997, vol.02, n.04, pp.65-73. ISSN 1414-4077.

This paper describes a comparative study of global performance indicators from the Health Sciences Centre undergraduate courses at the State University of Londrina. The methodology used was described by the Special Committee from the SESu/MEC (Higher Education Secretary/Education and Sports Ministry) for the Drop-out Rate Study in the Undergraduate Courses of Brazilian Universities, considering each course as a study unit. It is a compared study of the credit and annual systems, with students that entered University between 1986-1996. In 1992, changes took place in the academic system, at the same time that several innovations were put in place, such as the integration of academe, health care services, and the community. This study demonstrates two significant indicators decreases: (1) student drop-out, and (2) those students that take more time than the average student to graduate. It was also observed in this study, that the number of undergraduate increased in the annual system compared with that of the credit system. The analisys of this data, demonstrates new changes on the academic model of the CCS/UEL.
