The State, the university and the industry were three of the institutions consolidated in the modem world, f rom there the importance of their relationship. However, the changes that are occurring in all social realms affect the structure and running of these institutions and, at the same time, impact their relationship. In that sense, this reflections describe the socioeconomic context and its incidence in the education, particularly, in the university; moreover, some features of the institutional actors, their visions of the university - as that have being adjusting to the changes-, and their incidence on the university - State - industry relationship are analyzed. Finally, it is concluded with some ideas about the Venezuelan case.
