Abstract

CARVALHO, Edson Ferreira de  and  PORFIRO, José Cláudio Mota. Avaliação institucional: a experiência da Universidade Federal do Acre. Avaliação (Campinas) [online]. 2001, vol.06, n.02, pp.17-32. ISSN 1414-4077.

Institutional Evaluation at the Federal University of Acre began in 1995, when the SESUIMEC approved of UFAC's Evaluation Project-a project constructed in accordance with the guidelines of the Brazilian institutional Evaluation Program (PAlUB). Since then many actions were undertaken, but, only in 1999 was the program implemented. The project carne to an end in 2000. This paper presents the methodology as it was adapted from PAlUB and briefly discusses the findings and recommendations presented to the university community in order to overcome existing deficiencies. The principles which guided the elaboration of the project were: respect for institutional identity, neither award nor penalty, free adherence, legitimacy, continuity, globality and comparability. The evaluation process, objectives and project methodology are describe in the paper. Whereupon, this article has as its purpose to describe the institutional evaluation process and to communicate some of the findings about the institutional situation in terms of teaching, research, and outreach programs.
