The article is a reflection on the Liberal Imagination and the impact of neoliberal policies on education and, especially, on Brazilian public universities. The discussion deals with aspect~ of the Political Education as subsidy to investigations about Brazilian school education, identifying and situating, historically, the different phases and aspects of the national educational policies. In this sense, the article suggests a historical reflection on these policies as they relate to the Liberal/Neoliberal State and its political and educational interfaces.
