This article discusses many meanings of higher education evaluation. It's central line of think has it's focus on the evaluation of ethical meanings rather than on the evaluation of technical aspects. Evaluation produces effects and meanings. Therefore, it's fundarnentally connected to "formation". This article discusses also some of the changes and meanings produced by evaluation. In a particular way, it discusses the meanings of education and formation on the modem society, usually dominated by economic values, and proposes a revitalization of civic values and social sensibility.
