Abstract

DIAZ BARRIGA, Angel. A avaliação no marco das políticas para a educação superior: desafios e perspectivas. Avaliação (Campinas) [online]. 2002, vol.07, n.02, pp.09-27. ISSN 1414-4077.

The purpose of this paper is to present an account of the major trends in the field of evaluation. More specifically, the author observes that the various evaluation models used by nation states in Latin America, especially in Mexico, with various purposes, find their source of inspiration in the North American experience. He cites as examples the Merit Pay, the rankings, the link between evaluation and financing, accreditation, control of earnings, etc. The predominant model has its origin in an ideology of efficiency. According to the author, these evaluation practices distort the sense of evaluation. Which should be a process geared not towards control but towards the improvement of higher education.

Keywords : Institutional Evaluation; Higher Education; Evaluation Policies; Levels of Evaluation; Mexico.
