This research proposes to analyze and identify the possible relations between Evaluation Systems and the Improvement of Quality Standards in higher education. With this purpose, a study was made about the structure and development of the general procedures of the National Exam of Courses (ENC) or "Provão", the part or the must visible instrument of a recent and ample  Evaluation System of Brazilian Higher education, trying to draw a parallel between the results published by the Institutions responsible for ENC's application, and those obtained from data and constant remarks of other sources.
