The purpose of this paper is to compare the academic and social representations of two university segments. Previous analyses of socio-cultural backgrounds of students suggested that there is a veiled correspondence between students' economic status and their search for programs and careers. This paper compares these two groups of students in terms of their insertion in the labor market and their professional and academic strategies.
