The text reaffirms the principle that education is a public social good. It criticizes the merchandizing of higher education - a trend which increases with capitalist globalization that transforms education into a commodity. As an anti dote to this lowering of humanity, the author proposes the free and scientific cultivation of knowledge and cooperation.
