Abstract

ABOITES, Hugo. Universidad y maquiladora en la frontera México-Estados Unidos: el experimento de la educación superior de la integración económica del libre comercio. Avaliação (Campinas) [online]. 2004, vol.09, n.04, pp.121-137. ISSN 1414-4077.

Assembly plants consist of foreign labor intensive assembly lines, originating especially in the United States, which amount to about two thousand and are located at the Mexican-American border. This kind of industry has become one of the most important strategies for the growth of employment rates in the country, but it carries with it repercussions of profound implications for the perspectives of the country. One of these implications, which interests us here in particular, is the future which this kind of globalization poses to the development of higher education, science and evaluation in a Latinamerican country.

Keywords : Assembly Plants; Evaluation; Higher Education; Accreditation; Accreditation Systems; Comparative Studies.
