Abstract

RODRIGUES, Maria do Socorro de Sousa  and  ANDRIOLA, Wagner Bandeira. Reflexões acerca da atividade de auto-avaliação dos servidores técnico-administrativos: estudo de caso na Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC). Avaliação (Campinas) [online]. 2005, vol.10, n.03, pp.61-80. ISSN 1414-4077.

Auto-evaluation is frequently present in different procedures or models performance evaluation, be it in the teaching or in the work environment in general, being almost always executed without strong determination. The disfiguration in practice of the concept of self-evaluation, during the last twenty years in the public sphere, in general, besides making ethics and democracy scarce, has nourished a sort of conscious escape, unrevaled yet existent and contaminating. This kind of practice has fed a certain hedonism, that is, it has served mainly to the fulfillment of personal rather than institutional interests an egotistic way of being that that defeats the very reason for evaluation's existence. This article deals with the importance of auto-evaluation and with the contrast between concepts and practice. These aspects collide and permanent1y attract each other in the work place as shown by research on performance evaluation of staff carried out at the Federal University of Ceará.
