The text discusses possible ways of conducting the collectively constructed evaluation process, showing a different understanding of institutional self-evaluation, considering the psycho-social mediation. The text explores the understanding that participating individuals produce and that contribute to group reflection and self-awareness. The proposal is based on a case study carried out while evaluation practices were being implemented at a university. The theoretical reference is an epistemology of psychosociological orientation, which considers the role of the symbolic in the construction of the real and in the orientation of human conduct. The proposed model contemplates phases which are integrated and complement each other, and the utilization of a variety of procedures geared at the analysis of daily activities. It is an alternative that dialogues with other evaluation procedures vis-à-vis the difficulties of higher education institutions to offer individuals the means of participating in the evaluation process, given their organizational complexity.
