Abstract

BRUNETTI, Marcia Elizabeth. Environmental knowledge for a higher education of designers. Avaliação (Campinas) [online]. 2005, vol.10, n.04, pp.141-149. ISSN 1414-4077.

The founding of the Bauhaus brought into design a pedagogical experience in the search for life quality as well as a concern with techno-functionalist solutions for the industrial products. With the industrial and technical revolution started by Henry Ford and accelerated by the two post-wars, the rampant consumerism of the superfluous and the waste was turned into a well-being model for the societies. Since then, the design has been based on marketing principles that exalt the visual and emotional appeals in order to increase the exchange value of the products. Considering the globalized world that brings with it the problem of the environmental unsustainability, it has been proposed, again, a reformulation for the objectives of the design. Among these initiatives, an educational tool was developed - a tool based on computerized language appropriate for the youth of the 21st century and that intends to convey the possibilities of the designer to interfere in a preventive way through responsible actions in his/her work, and as a citizen as well.
