The text discusses the privatization in the public university, focusing on the Fluminense Federal University (UFF). The article discusses the conceptions of public and private in education, to then approach the subject of the private structures presently installed in this university. We analyze the offering of payed courses in the institution, through lato sensu graduate programs, that constitute a notorious mark of the private offensive in the public university. We also discuss the foundations that help support the universities as means of privatization of the public, with specific emphasis on the Euclides da Cunha Foundation of institutional aid to UFP, and aid contradictions and irregularities. We intend to demonstrate that the process of privatization of the public universities is not only the result of the neoliberal policies that come from outside their walls, but it is also directly connected to the private practices reproduced and produced by the people involved in the university.
