This text presents the results of an investigation that had as its main objective an examination of the situation of the students who completed the undergraduate programs at the Federal University of Ceará (Upe) in the years 2003 and 2004. The text stresses the importance of accompanying those who complete their programs as an action of responsibility of the Higher Education Institutions as well as being one of the ten institutional dimensions that are part of the National Higher Education Evaluation System (SINAES) of Brazil. The study used a sample of 101 students who completed their courses and obtained results concerning the social-economic profile of the young professionals, the degree of satisfaction with their education and work field; their participation in academic activities during their undergraduate program, the relevance of the program curriculum for their profession, among others. The data obtained may be used for a reflection concerning the adequacy of the education being offered to young university students at the Federal University of Ceará (UFC).
