This article presents a study that investigated the public lecture as an instrument of selection in higher education in a private for-profit college, committed to higher learning, located in Brasília. The college is authorized by the Ministry of Education - MEC, has all its programs accredited and offers postgraduate studies as well. The research aims to evaluate whether the public lecture as a means of selection is a good predictor of teacher performance in private higher education institutions. The questions were built as follows: Is a public lecture as a means of selection a good predictor of teacher performance? Is the public lecture as a predictor of teacher performance corroborated by the rating of students. There is a strong correlation between the results of the Public Evaluation and the Student Evaluation. Due to the results observed, there is a need to improve the assessment tool of Public Evaluation. An alternative measure might be to provide training for people who evaluate. The method applied is defined as applied and in depth descriptive research, field study, exploration and analysis of documents, both primary and secondary data.
