This study analyzes the academic success of students from the correlations between the performance of students in the university entrance exam and during graduation. From the perspective: The performance of students in the college entrance examination is correlated with the academic success of these in graduating courses in Unemat - Campus/Cáceres? It is characterized as descriptive research and uses quantitative and qualitative perspectives. Data collection was carried out through the bibliographic research and documental analysis. It involved 953 freshmen in 2009, at 12 graduating courses of the Campus of Cáceres. The data showed: average age at entrance (23 years old), average performance in the university entrance exam (3,88), average performance at graduation (6,19). Regarding the academic flow: graduates 27%, dropouts 37%, retained 32%, transferred 4%. We observed significant correlations performed in 20% of intersections realized. From these results, we indicated that higher performances of students in the university entrance exam are associated with better academic performance during the graduation, influences academic success and graduation rates, dropouts and retained. We conclude suggesting some possibilities to improve academic success and graduates: deployment of academic success programs focusing on specific extracts, as those adopted for university entrance exam, co-operation between University/Basic Education and flexibility of the curriculum of the courses.
