BERNARDELLI, Luan Vinicius; PEREIRA, Camila; BRENE, Paulo Rogério Alves  y  CASTORINI, Luccas Damasceno da Cunha. Anxiety in the university and its relationship with social skills. Avaliação (Campinas) [online]. 2022, vol.27, n.1, pp.49-67. ISSN 1982-5765.  https://doi.org/10.1590/s1414-40772022000100004.

The objective of this paper is to verify the level of anxiety in university students and its relationship with the students' social skills. This is quantitative research, which uses multivariate statistical methods were applied in order to verify the impact of anxiety on different characteristics of students. The results found point out that 53% of women and 35% of men showed probable anxiety, totalling 45% of the sample. They also point out that students in the last period of the course have higher levels of anxiety, compared to the other periods. Finally, there was a negative correlation between anxiety and social skills, measured by the ability to approach an authority, receptivity to praise and the ability to ask for help. Thus, the results show that anxiety in the university environment is a problem that can considerably affect the performance of students at the university and actions in the classroom can help to mitigate the consequences of an increasingly common problem in Brazilian universities.
