Abstract

OLIVEIRA, Frederico Sauer Guimarães; MELO, Yuri de Abreu de  and  RODRIGUEZ, Martius Vicente Rodriguez Y. Motivation: a challenge in the application of active methodologies in higher education. Avaliação (Campinas) [online]. 2023, vol.28, e023004.  Epub June 26, 2023. ISSN 1982-5765.  https://doi.org/10.1590/s1414-40772023000100004.

The use of active methodologies has proved to be a tool capable of increasing the level of students learning, especially those with concentration difficulties. A challenge for teachers is to obtain student engagement to carry out activities prior to the face-to-face meeting, such as watching a recorded lesson or reading an article. This work describes an experiment carried out in an inclusive university where, after careful research to choose the most appropriate strategies to the characteristics of the target audience and the institution's restrictions, didactic materials and practical activities were prepared that were used during an entire academic period and applied in three subjects of computing education. The results revealed the main ingredient for the success of this endeavor: the students' motivation.

Keywords : higher education; active methodologies; motivation.
