Secondary metabolites are produced by plants in order to avoid herbivory. Plant toxins are repellets to differents animals (insects, birds, mammals) and were produced throught evolutionaty processes according to their adaptions for these toxins. On the other hand, some plant chemical compounds, such as flavonoids, are attractive to pollinators for being responsible for the colors of flowers.
