Abstract

TRIVELATO JUNIOR, José. Um obstáculo à aprendizagem de conceitos em biologia: geração espontânea x biogênese. Ciência educ. [online]. 1996, vol.03, pp.46-54. ISSN 1516-7313.

Our aim is to discuss the importance of overcoming some alternative concepts which work as learning obstacles to important themes in Biology concepts related to microorganisms activity in nature, The concept of life and biogenesis are early built by children but it doesn't happen the same when the subject is fungi and bacteria generation, Science History shows the distance between microbe discovery (1696) up to the acceptance of biogenic theory for bacteria (end of XIX century). We also discuss the students’ ideas (7 up to 15 years old) about the generation of fungi and bacteria that take part in organic decomposition.

Keywords : Alternative Conceptions; Organic Decomposition; Spontaneous Generation; Biogenesis; Pasteur; Learning Obstacles.
