Resumen

Many teachers search in journalistic texts, magazines or newspapers, for subjects with scientific contents that can be used as classroom support material. Is the scientific content in this material, really, usable? Does the language used by the journalists promote the scientific knowledge on the subjects discussed? Thus, the aim was to analyze the scientific, didactic and accessibility aspects of the contents of the country’s most widely read, Veja and Época, weekly magazines published in 2008, with the theme of Environment. The results showed that the texts presented by the Veja magazine presented scientific language that can be used in classroom as didactic texts, as support and complementary material for the teachers.
