Abstract

OLIVEIRA, Graciela Silva; BIZZO, Nelio  and  PELLEGRINI, Giuseppe. Biological evolution and students: a comparative study in Brazil and Italy. Ciência educ. [online]. 2016, vol.22, n.3, pp.689-705. ISSN 1980-850X.  https://doi.org/10.1590/1516-731320160030009.

In this paper, we present some relations of the young with the theory of biological evolution found in Brazil and Italy, featuring the main similarities and differences identified in the responses of the students. Data were collected through the questionnaire entitled Barometer and analyzed using the software Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) - version 18.0. The results show that Italians more often recognize the validity of topics related to evolutionary theory. In addition, there are different sociocultural factors associated with the answers of the young of both countries, increasing or decreasing with the familiarity of students with scientific explanations for natural phenomena.
