Abstract

GIORDAN, Marcelo  and  MASSI, Luciana. The magazine Ciência Hoje das Crianças and the route to scientific careers: an analysis of the chronotope of the section “I have read, I read”. Ciência educ. [online]. 2019, vol.25, n.4, pp.927-944.  Epub Nov 21, 2019. ISSN 1980-850X.  https://doi.org/10.1590/1516-731320190040006.

This study explores the section “I have read, I read” in Ciência Hoje das Crianças (Children’s Science Today) magazine through Bakhtin’s concepts of discursive genre and chronotope. It is a 30-year commemorative section that, throughout 2016, published 22 stories of current and former readers. We consider the discursive genre of science dissemination and its variant for children as references to identify the variants of the discourse genre of this section, in particular that which merges the “Reader’s Letter” format with the presentation of professional success or strong relation with science trajectories. The interdependence relationship of time-space, analyzed through the concept of chronotopy, showed the main marks of the trajectory of these readers, as well as the implicit axiological aspects of the magazine, and the stereotype of the scientist and the relationship with science.

Keywords : Science dissemination; Discourse gender; Chronotope; Science teaching.
